Welcome to the 2014 American Statistical Association Conference on Statistical Practice. Follow the tabs at the top of this page to navigate through the site.

Statistical Practice 2014 aims to bring together hundreds of statistical practitioners, including data analysts, researchers and scientists, who engage in the application of statistics to solve real-world problems on a daily basis. The conference will provide an opportunity to learn about the latest statistical methodologies and best practices in statistical design, analysis, programming and consulting.

The conference is designed to aid applied statisticians in improving their abilities in consulting with and helping customers and organizations solve real-world problems.

• Learn how to better communicate with customers

• Learn how to have a positive impact on your organization

Statistical Practice 2014 will offer courses, tutorials, an Opening Plenary Session, concurrent paper and poster sessions, a Closing Session, and exhibits.

Target Audience

The intended audience includes those statisticians, data analysts, researchers and scientists who engage in statistical analysis, design and consulting as a major component of their jobs. They may teach, engage in research and perform administrative duties as well, but their main role is the practice of statistics. A sizable portion of the audience will have graduate degrees in statistics, or a related area, and still others will have no statistics degree per se but will have mastered their skills through coursework as part of another discipline of study and self-study.

Conference Goals

The conference will provide opportunities for this audience to learn new statistical methodologies and best practices in statistical analysis, design, consulting and statistical programming through courses; sessions with papers, panels, and posters; and keynote and plenary presentations. The conference will also provide opportunities for attendees to further their career development through workshops and seminars on effective communication, management and leadership skills in additional to career placement activities. Another goal of the conference is to strengthen relationships in the statistical community for those practitioners not necessarily part of an academic community or a large statistical organization.

Yıldırım Beyazıt Üniversitesi ve T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı işbirliğinde, 19 – 22 Mart 2014 tarihlerinde “ULUSLARARASI KATILIMLI ULUSAL BİYOSİDAL KONGRESİ” düzenlenecektir.

Dünya Sağlık Örgütü tarafından sağlık; sadece hastalık ve sakatlığın olmayışı değil, bedenen, ruhen ve sosyal yönden tam bir iyilik hali olarak tanımlanmıştır. Ayrılmaz bir bütün olan çevre ve halk sağlığı kavramları ise; hastalığı önlemeyi, sağlığı ve bir bütün olarak halkın ömrünü uzatmayı ve sağlığı destekleyici ortamlar oluşturmayı hedefleyen düzenlenmiş tüm önlemleri ifade etmektedir. Halkın sağlıklı ve dengeli bir çevrede yaşama hakkı anayasamızın 56’ncı maddesi ile güvence altına alınmıştır. Çevreyi geliştirmek, çevre sağlığını korumak ve çevre kirliliğini önlemek devletin ve vatandaşın görevidir.

Beşeri hijyeni ile ilgili olanlarından insektisitlere; kişisel ve umumi alanlarda kullanılanlarından içme suyu dezenfektanlarına; veteriner hijyeni ile ilgili olanlarından kutu içi koruyuculara kadar uzanan geniş bir yelpazede yer alan biyosidal ürünler, temelde insanı, ürünleri ve faaliyet alanlarını, hayvanları ve çevreyi zararlıların olumsuz etkilerinden koruma amacıyla kullanılmaktadırlar.

Avrupa Birliği’nde biyosidal ürünlerin piyasaya arzı, piyasada bulundurulması ve kullanımını düzenleme süreci 1998/8/EC sayılı ve kısaca Biyosidal Ürünler Direktifi olarak adlandırılan yönetmelik ile başlamış, 528/2012/EU sayılı ve kısaca Biyosidal Ürünler Regülasyonu olarak adlandırılan tüzük ile devam etmektedir. Biyosidal ürünlerin piyasaya arzı, piyasada bulundurulması ve kullanımını düzenlerken amacı insanların ve hayvanlarının sağlığını ve çevreyi korumak olan ihtiyat prensibi daima göz önünde bulundurulmaktadır.

Ülkemizde, 31 Aralık 2009 tarihinde yayımlanarak yürürlüğe giren Biyosidal Ürünler Yönetmeliği ile başlayan biyosidal ürünlerin inceleme, değerlendirme, ruhsatlandırma ve piyasa gözetimi ve denetimi faaliyetleri yanında Biyosidal Ürünler Regülasyonu’na uyum çalışmaları Türkiye Halk Sağlığı Kurumu tarafından yürütülmektedir.

Bu çalışmaları daha geniş kesimlerle paylaşmak ve bilimsel zemine oturtmak amacıyla 19 – 22 Mart 2014 tarihleri arasında WOW Kremlin Palace Hotel’de gerçekleştirilecek olan ULUSLARARASI KATILIMLI ULUSAL BİYOSİDAL KONGRESİ‘nde sizleri aramızda görmeyi umuyor, değerli katkı ve katılımlarınızı bekliyoruz.

Turkey has a long history in the fight against tobacco whose first law became effective in 1996. The new legislation was brought in 2008 with a major tobacco ban and the the legislation was expanded to a higher standard, with comprehensive smoke legislation in 2009. The country was listed among the top five in 2010 European Tobacco Control Scale for European countries. With the latest regulations in 2012, Turkey is going on its way to be a tobacco free country. 
Turkey also has a unique geography since it’s located at the intersection of three continents. On the other hand, Istanbul is the largest city of the modern Turkey with a bridge connecting not only East and West, but also the past and the future. In this context “capital of the three greatest empires in history” offers a unique experience with its colorful daily life, historical sites of various ancient civilizations and delightful tastes of its rich cuisine. “IX. Uluslararası Beslenme ve Diyetetik Kongresi”nin 2-5 Nisan 2014 tarihlerinde Ankara’da yapılacağını büyük bir mutluluk ve onurla duyurmak isteriz.
Bilindiği gibi “Beslenme” ilke ve uygulamaları ile biyolojik, aynı zamanda çevresel ve sosyal içerikli bir bilim dalıdır. Bu kadar geniş kapsamlı yapı birçok güncel ve yeni gelişmeleri beslenmenin merkezine yerleştirmektedir. Beslenme bir bilim olarak sadece bireysel ve toplumsal sağlığı değil, küresel sağlığı da ilgi alanımıza taşımaktadır. Böylece disiplin alanı bize yaşamın korunması, iyileştirilmesi, geliştirilmesi ve sürdürülmesinde yaşadığımız yüzyıla uygun önemli katkıları ve gelişmeleri sunmaktadır. 
Beslenme ve Diyetetik Bölümü olarak sorumluluğumuzun bilincinde ve tüm beklentileri karşılamaya yönelik olarak büyük bir ilgi, çaba ve coşku ile hazırladığımız kongrenin bilimsel programını ve aktivitelerini sizlerle paylaşmak istiyoruz. Bilimsel programın Beslenme ve Diyetetik Bilim Dalı’na gönül veren siz katılımcıların bilgi, deneyim ve uzmanlıklarını paylaşma olanağını sağlayacağı inancını da taşıyoruz. Beslenme bilimleri, diyetetik, toplu beslenme sistemleri ve toplum beslenmesi alanlarında ki gelişmeleri ve sorunları tartışmak, sorunları tanımlamanın ötesine geçmek, sorunlara ilişkin eylemleri tartışmak için bir araya gelmek istiyoruz. Bu tartışmaları gerçekleştirebilmenin en etkin yolu ancak aktif katılım, tartışma, bilgi paylaşımı ile mümkündür.

On 7 April 2014 The FVE in collaboration with the CPME, supported by the Greek Presidency of the Council to the EU and the EU Commission, will organise a One-Health conference in Brussels.

The aim of the event is to bring together stakeholders, active in the medical and veterinary sector, to discuss on how we can work collaboratively in a One-Health approach. The purpose of this initiative is to highlight the importance of prevention, in order to ensure human and animal health and welfare. More precisely the event will focus on:
– the benefit coming from the implementation of good health management in practice, both in terms of health and welfare, as well as, of financial sustainability;
– the importance of co-ordinating actions in both sectors via a One-Health approach, with a particular focus on zoonotic diseases
– the role of the medical and veterinary profession in assuring these matters and educating the society

EurAsia Waste Management Symposium, Asya ve Avrupa bölgelerindeki ülkelerde
uygulanan atık yönetim stratejilerinin karsılastırılmasını saglayacaktır. Ayrıca,

deneyimlerini paylasmak ve atık yönetimi konusunda bölgede yasanan problemlerin
çözümü için ortak bir akıl ortaya koymak amacıyla sempozyuma katılmaya davet
ediyoruz.

Sempozyum, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Çevre Mühendisligi Bölümü tarafından
düzenlenmekte ve Çevre ve Sehircilik Bakanlıgı, Orman ve Su Isleri Bakanlıgı,
Istanbul Büyüksehir Belediyesi, Istanbul Su ve Kanalizasyon Idaresi (ISKI), ISTAÇ.
A.S. ve International Waste Working Group (IWWG) tarafından desteklenmektedir.
Sempozyum konuları, evsel, tehlikeli, tıbbi ve diger atık türleri için yasal
düzenlemeler, toplama, tasıma, arıtma, geri kazanma, tekrar kullanım gibi atık
yönetiminin tüm alanlarını içermektedir. Sempozyumda sözlü sunumlarla birlikte
poster sunumlar ve davetli konusmacılar yer alacaktır.
Katı atık yönetiminin gelismesine katkıda bulunmak isteyen tüm meslektaslarımızı
Asya ve Avrupa’nın kalbinde yer alan Istanbul’da gerçeklestirilecek olan “EurAsia

It is with great honor that I invite you to join us at the 20th IEA World Congress of Epidemiology (WCE2014). It will be held in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska, USA and hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage and many of our local, state, tribal and federal partners.

Our theme for the Congress is Global Epidemiology in a Changing Environment: The Circumpolar Perspective.

The Congress is divided into 6 major plenary tracks: Circumpolar Health; Climate Change and Health; Health Disparities, Ethics of Human Rights and Social Justice; Innovations in Epidemiologic Methods; Hot Topics in Epidemiology; and Infectious Disease. There will be many presentations on other areas of Epidemiology and Public Health Practice as well, so there will really be something for everyone!

WCE2014 will feature world class Epidemiologists, from nations all over the world, as invited speakers. From the beginning of the Congress to the very end, you will be able to visit with and listen to the most prominent researchers in epidemiology and public health today. And you definitely will not want to miss the famous Robert Cruickshank Lecture and the Sir Richard Doll Lecture, two of the most favorite lectures of the Congress.

While Alaska is truly a land like no other, Anchorage is a city like no other. Anchorage is an exciting, cosmopolitan and hospitable city at the edge of Alaska’s great scenic wilderness. With its unique blend of characteristics, no city better mixes Alaska’s breathtaking natural beauty with modern amenities. Many of Alaska’s most accessible glaciers and one of the nation’s largest state parks are just minutes from downtown Anchorage. Anchorage has over 120 miles of paved trails for walking, biking and running – it’s your invitation to get up close and personal with a moose or bald eagle. The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail runs along Cook Inlet for 13 miles with easy access from various points downtown.

You will find that downtown Anchorage is extremely pedestrian friendly. Many restaurants, boutiques and art galleries are located within minutes of your hotel.  To learn firsthand the native culture and rich history of Alaska, be sure to visit the Anchorage Museum and the Alaska Native Heritage Center.

Fish for King Salmon right in town or take a day trip to world-class fishing. The silver salmon are running this time of the year up on the Kenai River or you can fish for halibut in Prince William Sound or Resurrection Bay.

Recreational vehicles (RV) rentals are most popular during this time of year so bring your entire family and spend some vacation time in beautiful Alaska. The Alaska State Fair will be held August 21 – September 1, 2014. It is a treasure to all who visit it.

2011 yılında ilki İstanbul’da gerçekleşen MedicReS “Good Medical Research” kongrelerinin dünyadaki yankıları hala sürmektedir. 2012 de Viyana’da gerçekleşen Dünya Kongresi’nin ardından The Lancet Dergisi kongre ile ilgili bir editorial yayınladı.
